Calvert Chess Box
A.D. 1795 Calvert Chess Box - An ancient game, still growing in popularity. A game known for the beauty of its pieces, and for the challenge it poses to the mind. Early games made in ivory by master carvers and turners were often in red and white or green and white combinations. Our game is an exact reproduction of an original made by John Calvert, a Master of the Worshipful Company of Turners, in London in 1795. The faux-ivory set of 32 pieces comes in a beautiful hardwood box with an inlaid chessboard top.
